Never underestimate the power of saying thank you!

I love my job. I really do. Everything I do is about celebrating a special moment in life, whether it be your wedding day, birthday, christening, new job, graduation, baby shower .... everything is about marking the occasion.

With Covid-19 wiping my diary clean of weddings this year I will be honest and admit I've been feeling a little deflated. I've missed chatting with couples excited about their upcoming nuptials. I've missed hearing all the details that will make their day unique to them and most of all, I've missed playing a small part in it all.

Now that the rules are relaxing, couples are faced with a decision - have a small intimate wedding or move to 2021 when hopefully they will get the day they have worked hard to organise, saved for and dreamed of. I recently made my first wedding cake since lockdown was imposed. A few days later I received an email thanking me which made me very happy. The bride then took the time to write me a review on my Facebook page which totally blew me away. I honestly cried and spent the entire day floating on cloud nine.

Never underestimate the power of saying thank you. This review not only meant so very much but it also brightened my day, it made me smile, it made me cry, it made me do a fist pump! It's been a week since the review was written and I'm still smiling. I am feeling thankful, happy and appreciated. And all because someone took the time to say thank you.

"We came across Red Velvet Bakery by complete chance, and how happy we are to have done so. I was planning on making my own wedding cake but, with the extra stress of trying to plan a wedding around Covid I just couldn't bear giving myself extra work to do.

Throughout the entire process Toni was nothing short of wonderful. Setting up zoom meetings, sending out samples in the post, attending our second wedding as a second photographer, and lastly, of course, providing us with SUCH a beautiful and delicious wedding cake.

We went for a two tier, semi naked cake, with Lemon and Raspberry on one tier, and Sticky Toffee for the second. We were not disappointed.

I am not one for cake. But this cake is something entirely different. It is not in the realm of 'ordinary cake'. Not only did it look stunning, by god, this cake tastes good. Its the kind of 'neurgh I feel sick I've eaten so much cake...but...just one...slice...more...' kind of cake.

We loved it. Our guests loved it. The kids loved it. We loved it some more. I cried when I realised my new husband had rammed the last slice into his face with gusto and there was no more cake left.

We will be returning for more cake. Soon.

Thank you, so much Toni. Really. We loved it. We loved you. Thank you x "
